I think they would be to smart to be dealers . They may however take a cut from dealers in their areas . I base this on an article i read in a popular pro cannabis publication 'soft secrets' . Norn Iron breeders and growers were interviewed about 'cannabis culture' in the North . As they were not 'dealers'(authorized or otherwise) They lived in fear and had to be ultra discreet .

    My God its so obvious....Yes.

Now Pira is no longer...well thats what they say...some of their more prominent ex-enforcers now control the drug trading around the clubs and social clubs in parts of Belfast...

Others involved...Official Ira/Cira/Rira and the Inla...

Its so common place to be beyond a joke....the question is...why don`t the PSNI use their resources to arrest and convict....

Could it be that informers are ALWAYS protected.

The paramils are involved in every type of criminality but particularly drugs and moneylaundering. They will never go away.
Furthermore as the country's top official investigators well know (CAB/Gardai/Revenue) they are dab hands at covering their tracks via laying false trails, destroying evidence, never making admissions, deny-deny-deny, threatening witnesses, creating doubt (which always benefits the suspect). This trenchant approach acts as a powerful screen that is extremely hard to penetrate except thro' sheer luck. Even when the investigators get them bang on, what follows is denial after denial and plausible explanations which create smoke screens.

They have a most effective way of dealing with informers too as some will be aware.

The raison d'etre within the paramils for continuing their nefarious criminal activities is firmly rooted in whataboutery......a spew of references about the dung that has erupted in the corporate world in recent times. In paramil-land that's a perfect response, this is the only way for the lil guy, etc etc.
So all those wonderful people who screwed us all good and proper in recent years while they hid behind the facade of respectability have actually given sustenance to the seedbed of Organised Crime. The paramils are deeply entrenched there.

Legalize weed... Its 90%+ of the drugs taken. Might reduce their incomes, keep money in the economy and productive people like myself out of jail.

Reality check people!... Free the weed!

Weed is controlled by the Triads throughout these islands. The triads are using that cash to fund all sorts including sex slavery, rackets, extortion and people smuggling. Anyone smoking is funding that. Anyone claiming to be a paramilitary and selling or protecting sale of drugs needs to cop on.

A simple way to look at this is to trace the convictions of people found guilty of drug delaing and if they have any previous convictions for paramilitary groups, or any record of being a candiate, director of elections or offical with any of the political parties who act as wings of the groups. The only one I can think of is the UDA/UDP and the LVF.

Another way to establish this is to track the amount of times paramilitary gun seizures are accompained by drug seizures; with the exception of loyalists, I have no memory of any being recorded.

Another way is to look at those who were freed under licence in thorugh the GFA and how many of those former prisoners have been subsuquently charged with drugs offences. In the case of former PIRA I can think of none. There has been numerous cases of loyalist ex prisoners.

So in short the evidence and facts available strongly indicate that republican groups are not involved in the drugs trade in Ireland and loyalists are.
