    UDA responsible for sectarian murder

SDLP Assemblyman John Dallat said he believed the UDA was involved. “This man was doing nothing more than going down to check on his sons and lost his life when this lynch mob from a different part of the town came along and rendered their form of justice,” he said.

“What sparked it off was some sort of rumour that Tricolours were flying. This was organised and it is my belief that loyalist paramilitaries were involved. From my inquiries from very reliable sources as recently as last Friday I am satisfied that the Ulster Defence Association is still structured and still influencing events in Coleraine in a significant way.

“While there may have been some minor change in leadership, the organisation is intact, still led by the same sectarian personalities who have no intention of reforming themselves.

The ceasefire has been broken. Not that it already wasn't. They left a man in Derry in a permanent coma as well.

The PSNI have said many times it wasnt the UDA, even though the men claimed to be from the UDA.

The PSNI also havent found out who all was involved, but they were 100% sure it wasnt anyone in the UDA.

    Theyre psychic them there Policemen!

Do unionists really want peace? I can imagine another 10 years or less of these incidents and also "mickybo" style murders etc, at some point it will eventually come to if some republican group retaliates and the crap hits the fan again they will only have themselves to blame. However I don't wish for such action or advocate it.

I don't wish for that either but it will come to that if these cowards are going to continue to terrorise the people of NI. What makes matters worse is the ongoing CIRA problem, which could see a retalitory strike.

Worrying times in the North indeed.

I wouldnt start talking like that.

Tit for tat killings can get out of control fast, and with the UDA etc. fully armed and no-one willing to disarm them - we are living in a fragile peace.

When huge crowds of civilians partake in such barbaric mob killings it does look very worrying.

Sectarianism is promoted and celebrated here, these kick the pope bands and other loyalist and paramilitary marches will soon take over the streets here with funding from the British government and the Irish tourist board.

    What can we do?

We're powerless against the systems that willingly allow loyalist sectarianism to fester, these systems give them the impression that bigotry is not just ok but something to celebrate and promote.

It wont be long now until everywhere is faced with this. (UDA banners in marches)

Apparently in the same area where this murder happened a guy in a rangers shirt has had his jaw broken, tensions rising.

Yeah silly season is nearly upon us, which could further heighten the tension that exists presently.

I actually thought that things were beginning to change, but mind-sets aren't easily changed. It'll take another few generations to see real change, but that won't happen, if as Steve points out, the bigotry is allowed to flourish with their annual hate marches.

I dont care how people try to dress up the marching season, its 100% totally and utterly sectarian.

So long as its allowed sectarianism will exist, the Orange Order was created to divide people and shove British imperialism in the faces of those who had to endure it, and still do.
