Minister of Education in hot water again

BBC NEWS | Northern Ireland | Ruane child missed school on trip

How incompetent is this minister? Whatever the reason (and this remains a private matter IMHO) did she not think this was not only a bad example to set but actually contravening the advice her own department gives. Honestly, she needs to step down.

Each case like this is dealt with individually, parents have the right to take their children out of school under certain circumstances.
Parents may be allowed to take their kids on one off holidays, as it may be deemed educational to visit another country.
The kid could still easily catch up on the 3 days of schooling missed.
Schools themselves may take kids on breaks.
Her child may still have a good attendance record.
I dont think this is even an issue, let alone one that would merit someone resigning from their job.

Not an issue just cheap poilitical point scoring.

Never heard much of Basil McCrea talking when kids were being attacked by his brothers in arms when they were going to a Catholic primary school.

Yup 3 days missing school is a lot worse that abuse, missiles and hatred expressed to school kids.

    Get a ********************ING LIFE.

Today she incurred the wrath of Batt O Keeffe by showing up his Dept of Education and their financial difficulties over the proposed Autism Centre

Can she pass a single week without some gaff or blunder?

She has proved herself utterly incapable, she shouldn't be allowed run a sweet shop

I wouldn't put it as strong as that (and regarding the funding of this project - she has a point) but as a Minister for Education she is well below par, I'm afraid.

IMHO she needs to focus on Southern politics. She currently comes across as out of depth and clumsy. John O'Dowd would probably be much more capable. Ruane and Sammy Wilson are the two most likely to be replaced in this executive before the end of the year IMHO.
