You could draw parallels with his political style there which haven't always sat easily with the nature of the organization he has been a part of.He prefers persuasive rather than authoritarian leadership and he has always seen political sectarianism within republicanism as a waste of energy and something to be avoided if possible.
How come Gerry only got a half an hour and Colin Farrell got an hour? Was that a Gaybo's insisistance or at Gerry's I wonder?
I think the sacraments are some of the greatest gifts God has given man.
Whether it's Holy Communion, confession, marriage or baptism, each nourishes the soul and cleanses us with God's grace.
I'd be completely at sea without the confession box.
Untrue , way off the mark . Your confusing his pr style when dealing with people outisde the movement and when dealing within it . He attained leadership by continually insinuating that those he now calls traitors were soft on armed struggle and would someday call ceasefires and sell out . He railed bitterly against previous IRA ceasefires and held them up as evidence of future betrayal and compromise , which then permitted him to move into leadership as a hardliner .
Once in leadership he utilised militarist authoritiarianism to quell any dissent with in the movement quite ruthlessly . He always made sure to have an IRA leadership statement handy in advance so he could then accuse any criticising him of criticising the army itself , therefore insinuate treason . This intensified post ceasfire . He did not keep a movement on board a ceasefire by persuasion when the truth was he was promoting a strategy based upon the Hume adams agreement - which republicans themselves remain forbidden from reading while all his supposed opponents were permitted to study the document in depth . He did it through fear of asking questions and fear of criticism , real fear for your own personal safety .
As regards sectarianism id remind you his parting shot to the leadership he ousted in the early 80s was to throw out their eire nua proposls as well . Which he did by playing a very sectarian card indeed . By calling them a sop to unionism .
you seem to have been sucked in by the mans pr machine . Many were before you including yours truly so thats not meant as an insult . Im simply pointing out th man is barefaced liar and a control freak who cannot tolerate dissent . He takes it extremely personally .

I am not a fan of Gays but he was at his brilliant best tonight and he set the traps for him by just keeping things simple, like he did with P Flynn, Gerry played him at his own
game and also kept it simple, Very well done by the two of them.
