    Replacement for Hugh Orde.

I hope that senior members of the Garda will apply for the position as his replacement and be given due and fair consideration.
May the best woman/man be chosen.
If that man or woman were from the Gards it would send out a clear signal that the PSNI was a Police Service that all could respect.

I do not think that Gerry Kelly has the kind of experience from a police persons point of view that would qualify him for this job and I am not aware that he has served time as a high ranking Garda.

Orde knows that the sh1t is about to hit the fan. RUC/psni face a long hot summer of violence, in Belfast anyway, and he probably wants to get out now. In terms of replacement, can't think of one but whoever it is, it will be the same old same old.

    Thanks for that.
The PSNI could definitely benefit from having a senior Garda replace him.

Having an ex Garda at the top in the PSNI could happen but it won't for the very good reason that it would be unsafe at this time. It's too soon for that but it will be used as a good tactical manoeuvre in the time to come but be content to park it for now.

Hugh Orde did a good job in a difficult era and with huge constraints. He did well.

Are you insane? The Garda Siochana is one of the most secretive, untransparent, politically influenced police forces in the world - one of Putin's praetorian guard would be a better choice than an ex-Guard...

why would some free stater putting on a british uniform and becoming a puppet of the british intelligence srvices send such a message ? why would anyone respect an armed force of British occupation in Ireland because someone had a slightly different accent ?

Words and actions/inaction of the anti-GFA and PSF
erm..anti british rule in ireland , no need for so many initials
, job loss totals, general & economic malaise around,
being in a job wouldnt make you any more appreciative of a southern accent in a British uniform
    disillusionment with GFA,
    never been huigher
conversations where the theme of revanchism appears
or just plain opposition to briish rule in ireland
, Ardoyne, McKearney on east Tyrone,
last i heard of McKearney he was claiming on Panorama everythings pretty much ticketyboo in th e north and the GFA has made enough people happy enough
quagmire of afghanistan and various brit entanglements
they are certainly stretched abroad but nt here where theyve done their homework over many decades,
, the number of robberies leading up to easter, the exposed arms deal in the baltic.
there was no arms deal exposed in the baltic . Someone being enticed by agents into buying a few cheap cigarettes and then pounced upon does not an arms deal constitute
