Why are former british squaddies even posting on this site? Its an odd characteristic of the brits, every now and again one or two feel compelled to sit among Irish irrespective of the fact they're clearly hated. I'd put it down to some bizarre longing for acceptance.

The nearest any of these whackos ever came to the british army was watching the Edinburgh Tattoo with their hand down their pants. Knowledghe of military terminology does make one a member of the "Queens Own".

They certainly don't want to be accepted, they simply want to flaunt their "superiority" over us thick paddies.

Did anyone see the BBC news 24 where the government officials lay in to the bankers..This is one thing they did, that was impressive,,they also called a forum for small business people that were not being represented and it was packed..
I dont agree with Maggies views in the past but by god did she face down the unions in UK. When are we going to learn from any of this?? Also when polititians do something wrong they resign, we pat them on the back here

Well I'm not a "whacko" and I certainly don't get my jollies off watching a load of Jocks in skirts strangling a cat. Anyway, if we're talking about Wannabes, what abut all the keyboard republicans and bar-stool revolutionaries who post here, don't they merit a mention?
Having said that I do consider myself reasonably well informed on military matters and make no apologies for correcting some of the ignorant tripe posted here, for the most part by dimwitted bigots of a republican bent. I try to avoid Gun-Porn for the most part but it's sometimes unavoidable.
I post here because having served in NI for a significant period of my military service I enjoy the oportunity to correct some of the more idiotic and bizarre misconceptions about the Army and its role in NI. Let's face it, without me and one or two others you numpties would just spent your time recycling the same old sh*te and whining about how hard done by you are. It's supposed to be a discussion site remember, not an on-line graffiti wall.
I'll give you one thing though, on occasion it is quite difficult not to feel superior to some of the thick fu*kers on here, I don't think it's an Irish thing though, I've met the type elsewhere.

Some interesting points and a reasonably well thought out reply. More than I can say about your pal greasytrucker who has an IQ only a mother could love. Your dedication to your version of the truth is certainly impressive but it is your version. What you fail to realise is that I for one am not in need of your "analysis" on the troubles in the north. I, and im sure many others on this site, also witnessed things first hand. I dont need you to tell me what the army's policy was or their version of events concerning certain events. Actions speak louder than words. Myself, close members of my family, and friends witnessed things that most certainly were not reported in the Daily Telegraph or Mail. Were I to go on a British website and tell what actually happened I would be dismissed as a "bigot" spreading propaganda. The same assumption must be made about you here. The IRA certainly committed some foul deeds but your caricature of them as blood lusting bigots is just that, a caricature. There is certainly things to be debated about the IRA's campaign in the North. But you must also accept that the British Army also committed some foul deeds. If you fail to do so then you are either lying or a fool.

Your mans lying about Hughes. Its all they know how to do is lie. The same way they lied about Hughes they lied about Adair. People claiming to have done 'tours' say they know nothing about being shown pictures of Adair, i.e. to let him past if not to give him tidbits of intel.

I enjoy the oportunity to correct some of the more idiotic and bizarre misconceptions about the Army and its role in NI.
Translation: I enjoy trolling. Its quite pathetic, really.

your arrogance gives the impression you are trying to convince yourself that you are needed here, or knwledgable on miltary matters, you are in fact niether.

you are full of revisionary history and biased "opinions" you are the typical ignorant Brit. you think you are informed but in fact you are either badly mis-informed or down right ignorant of the facts, either way we all know your type. a sad brit who lives in the past, the empire is finished and will never exist again, britain is a joke in every way including militarily, what happened when the iranians captured the the british armed forces personel not so long ago what did the mighty british army do......nothing, because Iran would have made a laugh of them on the battle field and the brits would not dare challenge any nation now wothout the backing of the US or nato. what a bloody joke you are.

But don't you know that you're one of the illinformed? It's qutie silly of you to offer an alternative version to the 'truth' as he sees it. If I keep going he'll think that there's a mirror image of himself.
