'Oglaigh na hEireann' speak to the Irish News.

A spokesman for ONH said: “Had we got that bomb into Ballykinler then we would have been looking at large scale destruction and military casualties and that was our intention.

“There was a last-minute problem with the plan and the operation had to be abandoned.”

As far as numbers go I’m not going to say we have hundreds of volunteers because we don’t. We have turned away more people than we have recruited,” the ONH spokesman said.......

Irish News: NEWS: Dissidents: ‘We have recruited ex-Provos’

The group has ruled out engaging in 'sectarian conflict' or targetting commercial businesses and claim to be made up of mainly past PIRA members and some from the RIRA.
They mention no strategy nor do they try to explain how they believe that creating dead bodies will further republicanism, they have boasted about their bomb making expertise and claim to have support.

This organisation sound like a very worrying threat to peoples safety and the cause they claim to represent.
Abstinence makes the Church grow fondlers.

The fact they have recruited ex-provos is the most worrying thing as those are the guys who know how to do damage. The other splinter groups CIRA, RIRA, INLA etc dont seem to really know what they are at and seem to be amatuer wanabees.

I was abit surprised to see what they were planning to do with the bomb abandoned in castlewellan. Planning to casually just drive it through the gates of the army base and detonate it?? Doesent sound like a well planned operation to me.

Still from reading that article you get a chill because it seems to be only a matter of time before they do kill someone.

They say they have recruited 'ex provos' a safe claim to make as it is vitually impossible to disprove.

They say they were going to drive the bomb through the front gates at Ballykinlar. Again as the operation never got off the ground it is again an easy claim to make.

You read the article and all you want to do is yawn. It is reminiscent of the preposterous claims of the IPLO who were always on the verge of doing something.

A more relevant case is the CIRA who have allegedly been in the field for 22 years and have as yet not inflicted a single casualty on British Crown Forces.

This has more to do with bragging on a Saturday night full of drink than anything to do about a campaign.

Do you not realise that they are the legitimate armed forces of this state? And that the real government of Ireland consists of about 7 old men who meet in a cow shed somewhere in the midlands every Saturday night before they go to the pub?

Funny isn't it, but even our current economic woes give a kind of sustenance to these nutters. These are people of the "Mad Bomber" ilk who know what's best for all humanity and are hellbent on delivering on it.

They love nothing better than disruption because that is the only way they can make a mark in life. Many of them are dysfunctional, shifty, malicious types with a bizarre notion of democracy based on skewed historical perception. History is a very twisted thing anyway but having to contend with idiots and their interpretations of it is just so wearing.

Listen guerilla gaels, get a life.........the public en masse want nothing to do with ye...ye are loopers.....leave us alone ffs..... for ye to gain any ground is to expect the tail to wag the dog....ain't gonna happen , guys...ever. But that doesn't cure your rabies and I know that very well. The enormous problems we have to contend with and sort out will not be sorted by resorting to class rejects and village idiots

It takes a lot of skill, knowledge, commitment and finance to build a boat but you only need to be a friggin' eejit to sink it. I'm with the boatbuilders.

its a spoof story. This is essentially a phantom gang with literally a handful of members and absolutely no support base whatsoever . The Irish News however have devoted about 4 pages to talking them up into a viable organisation . As far as interviews go its one of the most idiotic ive evr read . Alison Morris seems to believe her job as a journalist is to promote these claims as fact without question or analysis of any kind and most definitely not to cast any doubt upon them in any manner. The previous activity by this supposed faction resulted in willie frazer appearing by magic at the site of their supposed landmine in jonesboro , which again by magic he claimed to have discovered while driving round ssouth armagh hunting republicans .
The word dodgy doesnt do any of this activity the remotest justice . Sinister does though .

I cracked up when I read the 'spokesman' referring to the "security forces".
