Unionists tell McAleese to "keep her nose out"

Seems like the leopard has not changed its spots, An Uachtarain has apparently given some speech or other and referred to Irish serving in the British Army and the bile has flowed, it appears that the Unionists cannot thole any comment on their "beloved ulster" yet again being "besieged" by the republican hordes. Now they want to gag any comment, can they not see that this makes them appear to the outside world as nazis? If they disagree with her views why not just say why they disagree? seem toi have their attitudes stuck in a time warp - but nothing knew there then.

Maybe if Mary McAleese actually said something specific and meaningful, rather than spouting a load of North/South rhetoric all the time.

So because unionists object to MMA refering to them as Nazi's, it means we are acting like Nazi's ????? how do you work that one out ?
Although to be commended for her attempts at bridge building, she has a tendency to reveal her true spots from time to time, with her frankly outrageous comments about northern protestants. Can she not be diplomatic and keep her mouth shut as a head of state is meant too.
You can take the women out of Ardoyne but you cant take the Ardoyne out of the women i'm afraid. Feckin witch.

Nearly as bad as 'Prince' Harry Von Windsor and the 'Paki's'.
"They stole my land, burnt my olive trees, destroyed my house, took my water, imprisoned my father, killed my mother, starved us all, humiliated us all. But I am to blame : I shot a rocket back. So they stole more of my land, burnt my olive trees, destroyed my house, took my water, bombed my country..."

Agree that as head of State she should do what Mary Robinson singularly failed to do on a regular basis and keep her mouth shut. That being said, I'd still like to know what she said that merits another Unionist vitriolic reaction to someone who (given their political perspective) they should presumably see as a foreign irrelevance.

Was this what they were objecting to?? Seriously??? Quoted below

"Here was what Thomas Kettle would memorably describe, less than a decade later, as "the secret scripture of the Poor" that would drive tens of thousands of young Irish men into the British Army to sacrifice their lives so that their families could eat."

Sorry - I said they appeared as nazis given the nature of the response and the speech. The post never mentioned or referred to the occasion that you have attributed it too, but then why bother reading and considering when a knee jerk will do?
