DUP Cannot Decide Who Goes To Europe

It appears that the DUPes are having problems convincing anyone to stand for Europe, Dodds has been approached according to newspaper reports but apparently does not want to lose his Westminster seat, so who will go and risk being sidelined? Does anyone there want to risk a prediction?

Agreed. He can go convince the EU that there is no such thing as global warming.

Iris would be my choice there .... a spot of mind broadening away from local circles would be beneficial (which prob won't occur in any event but you can always hope)

Auld Doddsie still has his eyes on party leader then. Good to see that the cracks in the cement still exist.
"They stole my land, burnt my olive trees, destroyed my house, took my water, imprisoned my father, killed my mother, starved us all, humiliated us all. But I am to blame : I shot a rocket back. So they stole more of my land, burnt my olive trees, destroyed my house, took my water, bombed my country..."

My bet is on Iris. Two reasons, which I have mentioned before; they need a high profile character to be up against McAllister and now the only MP who has no other position besides MLA.
"The thing that always annoyed me about traditional Irish historiography was the paradox of its Anglocentrism. People are now prepared, I think, to confront the possibility that many Irish problems are, in a sense, indigenous to the Irish situation." Roy Foster (1989).

I think it should be the great Edwin Poots. Europe deserves a man of his calibre. Northern Ireland is too small for such a great man of such vision. He can tell his European colleagues why there is no dinosaurs and how the world was made 4000 years ago.
He can also tell them why the 1916 leaders were terrorists but the UVF were in fact heroes.
Failing his appointment as candidate serious consideration should be given by the DUP to Eoghann Harris. There is no real difference between Poots and Harris. They are both total lunatics and are unionists too.
