Hey Factorem what about the Cloyne report is that the love the Catholic church gives out ?

The Catholic Church is all of the baptised. Don't condemn the Church, and thus all Catholics for the failure of those in hierarchical positions.

The Pope himself has said the Church has to be purged of this filth. Those who have abused including any bishop who has been complicit in allowing abusers continue their terror, be it through negligence, full knowledge, cowardice, or whatever, again must face natural justice and be held to account for it.

And as Christ himself said, those who destroy the innocence of the little ones, it would be better for them to have millstone around their necks and drown than face God's justice.

You will not silence those who support Church teaching because of the hyprocrisy and evil deeds of others. This is especially true among many in the laity, who know that most priests are afraid to open their mouths on any matter pertaining to sexual morality because of the heinous crimes of some priests and religious and endemic institutional abuse.

We love the Church because it is Christ's not ours. He set it up, her teachings are His. That love does not blind us to the horrible reality of what some of its members, entrusted with the care of the innocents, have done.

Can someone (The OP or a Mod) change the title to read "Are the Pope and Iris..." please?
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

I don't know why they should, it's a perfectly cromulant way of phrasing it, in fact it would be unpossable for me not to feel embiggined by his bold choice of words.

What is often expressed and signified with the word 'gender' leads to the human auto-emancipation from creation and from the Creator.
....how could that be offensive? it does not even make any sense!

The human being wants to make himself on his own and to decide always and exclusively by himself about what concerns him.
As opposed to asking the crazy old man in the white robes who lives with the other crazy old men in the red robes who talks to the magic man in the sky what to be concerned about?
Yeh humans are silly sometimes Bennie!

"But, in so doing, the human being lives against the truth and against the Spirit creator.
Is this just a poor translation or is a primary school kid whos failing english doing his speeches?

Rain forests deserve, yes, our protection but the human being - as a creature which contains a message that is not in contradiction with his freedom but is the condition of his freedom - does not deserve it less."
People contain a message? and this message is a condition of our freedom? What the hell is he on about?, seriously????

(and more to the point wheres the part about gays???)

    Belfast Citizen,

Do not presume to know what I think. I want to read the full report and avoid the all too easy option of reading only media quotations from it. Natural Justice is not metted out in haste. Nuala O Loan has warned about that.

I did hear one Father of a victim speak on the radio, and as a father to three young children, I could not but be of his mind that Bishop Magee should go. But that is not for me or that father to decide.

From what I have read, presently, I would be inclined to agree with Archbishop Martin's analysis. Also, give the Pope a chance, hopefully he will get to read the report soon now that his hectic liturgical duties for Christmas are easing off a bit. He simply would not have been physically or mentally availalbe to read it, should it be at his desk.

What is surprising here about this? You know the stance on the Catholic church, and for every other mainstream church?
"They stole my land, burnt my olive trees, destroyed my house, took my water, imprisoned my father, killed my mother, starved us all, humiliated us all. But I am to blame : I shot a rocket back. So they stole more of my land, burnt my olive trees, destroyed my house, took my water, bombed my country..."

Is it not more likely that he would speak of love, tolerance and understanding?

This Pontiff is no John XXIII.
I believe Christ would probably say to all, as he said to the Adulteress woman, `go and sin no more` or `repent` just as he equally said to those that would condemn the woman `let him with no sin cast the first stone`

to all the individuals who may make snide remarks about pope benedict's membership of the hitler youth, it may help your understanding of the man if you were made aware of the fact that all german boys were obliged to join the organisation. i also think it unlikely that he was a hitler fan given that his father, a policeman lost his position in 1933 on account of his opposition to the nazi regime. as a result the family had to move home on three occasions during the 1930's as the father went in search of work.
