Sky Sports News English Presenter Mocks Belfast

Sun 10:00am Showing pictures of cars burning after rioting of Senegal fans following their exit from World Cup qualifying, an English Sky Sports News Presenter said "it looks like Belfast" !! when his Scottish co-host raised his eyebrows, the English presenter backed up with "in the bad old days"

Al Jazeera English - Sport - Riots as Senegal knocked out

In an age where Catholics are accepting that they can now move forward through the ballot box and no longer be treated as sub-human. With gratitude to the few brave soldiers who continued the armed conflict against brutal oppressors, the people of the occupied six counties should be let move forward.

They do not need idiots like this referring to the Belfast of 20 years ago flippantly especially not someone from the country responsible.

Typical of the British media to on one hand demand that the Six Counties are British but treat the armed struggle as local tribalism washing their hands of their bloody history, like the schoolyard coward who starts fights and runs away to leave others to face the music...(you know the type, they grow up to be Michael McDowells and Nigel Dodds)

Parnella there is a risk that we can become too sensitive to the recent past ,if you want to be offended you can like Mary Whitehouse sit around all day watching TV and taking umbridge chill a chara.

If you have such a big problem with the British, cancel Sky Sports and stop watching their soccer

There are loads of county GAA finals on today

I don't pay for it so I'm getting my own back!!

Pity though that there is such little coverage of GAA on TV. I live a long way from the GAA club I have interest in....and they are sh!te!

I like GAA, I like soccer. I like hurling, I don't like cricket. I like most sports. There are not many 24 hour Sports News channels. Senegal World Cup Qualifying sport report is not British Soccer! But yes, I do watch British soccer including Celtic games.

You are as likely to hear such sneering on any English show. My Irish isn't great so not much point in continuously watching TG4.

So anyway, back on topic! preposterous comment by the Sky sports news reporter!!

Good grief, did a SKy Sports commentator make a reference to a riot looking like Belfast?

Shock horror. Surely he meant it looked like the riots in Henly on Thames when they ran out of Pimms at a polo match.

FFS - it was a crude referenec to thr touble in NI in the 80s. If you are so sensitive, you shouldn't be let out in public.

You forget, you're dealing with Nordies here, the centre of the MOPE industry.
