British Army still on NI streets?

Just read a report on BBC about a suspicious object found in South Armagh - nothing particularly interesting in the story itself. However, there's a pic of a group of British Army soldiers accompanying the story. But didn't the British Army end its support role with the PSNI last year?

The Army bomb squad will still be used if theres suspicious objects found.

I havent seen a soldier in many years, although i did see a couple of landrovers on the motorway last year.

There are still plenty of British military on the streets, they just don't wear the uniform and are conducting more covert type operations.

They were round my way a few weeks ago putting mi5 recruitment things through letter boxes, there was a lot of complaints in the local paper about it.
To be honest i dont think they'll ever be satisfied here unless there's war or they're creating one.

So the British Army is used for investigating and disposing of suspected explosive devices? Like the Irish Army?

Sounds just like Unionist leaders. Refusing to accept independent confirmation that the IRA's war is over, stirring up armed Loyalist groups in public with their rhetoric and who knows what they are saying to these groups in private?

The British soldier has the mindset of a BNP supporting football hooligan and causing trouble is their natural inclination.

This little northern Irish patch of land is perfect as a playground for these people, as a British soldier revealed theyre spying all over the place, blackmailing people and using this place like a training and testing ground.

There are still 5000 soldiers at least in NI something agreed by Sf and other political parties.
Our local politicians are in government together trying to find a way forward under GFA and St Andrews agreement.
Security of the State, which is the first objective of every democrat and all parties who exercise power, is the responsibility of PSNI Army MI5/6 and other legitimate agencies and if they were not spying on those who offer a threat then I as a taxpayer want my money back as that is what we pay them to do.

A typical prod world view of things ie they are the only workers and taxpayers. ...work = presbyterian-angican. well fek me the Irish built the whole infrastucture of britain.
imagine one set of unionist tax payers thinking that all tax payers money should be used to persue their agenda alone. you lot are on your way out. But don't worry we wont have an irish equivalent of MI5-6 to terrorize you. you will be welcome to stay. You can even play gaelic games if you wish!
