    SDLP Youth organise Demonstration against Iris Robinson

    The SDLP Youth has organised a demonstration tomorrow outside Belfast City Hall @ 1pm calling for Iris Robinson to resign as Chair of the Assembly's Health Committee. There are posters up for it around the city center. I think Iris is currently on holiday in America - probably the southern states - but I'm going along to protest anyway. They say anyone is invited including trade unions, youth groups, LGBT sector and other political parties.

    Iris Robinson has admitted that “it’s all over now” for her after SDLP Youth said they will hold a protest against her.

    “I could have handled the singularly negative media coverage my remarks have brought me,“ said Mrs Robinson, “along with me being responsible for wrecking any chance of a DUP coalition with a future Tory government, and with my own party members' anger at me for darkening our new image, but having the SDLP Youth out against me is too much to handle. I will resign now.”

    As far as I know she's in the US for over a month so it's best to do it now when it's current affairs, and it's also Belfast Pride Week so there's a lot of focus on ending homophobia. Also, it's not like she's going to acknowledge the protest but it'll still show that she has no public support.
