'PSNI - We know where loyalist arms are kept....'

........Yet we just let them keep them??????

(No link just yet, but i heard it on the radio news)

Apparently the PSNI (supposed to be a police force) know the location where loyalist terrorists are storing deadly weapons for use in terrorist activity, yet have failed to do anything.
Loyalists terrorists have directly murdered atleast 50 people since 2000 yet are still fully armed.

Does this equate to the PSNI actually aiding terrorism?

    They certainly arnt against it.

This will not help their aims to become an impartial police force, an image that was shattered over the 12th of July.

Alex Maskey said this is further proof that the police have always turned a blind eye to unionist terrorism.

Re: 'PSNI know where loyalist arms are kept'

I found some info via Googling, SF have put up an article today on their site..

Its actually a PSNI officer claiming they know where these weapons are.

    http://sinnfein.ie/news/detail/33522

Responding to comments in today's Irish News by PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Peter Sheridan claiming that the PSNI know the location of loyalist weapons dumps, Sinn Féin spokesperson on Policing Alex Maskey said that if this is the case then it was time they went out and lifted them.

    Mr Maskey said:

There is a long history of policing in the north at best turning a blind eye to the activities of loyalist gangs and in many cases controlling and directing them. Given this reality it may not come as much of a surprise the admission by Peter Sheridan that the PSNI know the location of loyalist arms dumps.

"However what is unacceptable and quite shocking is his attitude to going and recovering these weapons. The existence of the IMC and IICD is no barrier to the PSNI recovering loyalist weaponry. Indeed it is the function of the PSNI to recover these guns. The purpose of these weapons is to attack Catholics and protect organised crime rackets. Indeed last year in Carrickfergus these very weapons were used to attack the PSNI.

"Many people from across society will be angered by the comments made by Mr Sheridan and the position adopted by the PSNI in recovering loyalist weapons. To most people it is very simple - if you know where these weapons are - then go and get them."

Assistant Chief Constable Peter Sheridan also said once the timeframe of the Independent International Commission on Decommissioning (IICD) has closed any weaponry seized will result in the prosecution of those linked to the arms.

When asked if the PSNI can locate the sites he said: “Well, the short answer to that is yes — and then if the opportunity to arrest and prosecute is there, we will.” Mr Sheridan, the chief of Special Branch, said they will DNA weapons and fingerprint them in order to get forensic evidence.

However he added that he did not know if loyalist decommissioning was “inevitable”.

“Policing here is still very much enshrined in politics. No other police service has an IMC (Independent Monitoring Commission). No other police service has an IICD.”

There is no laws preventing the police from conviscating terrorist arms, this should be done immediatly before they kill anyone else.

Perhaps this is why unionists/loyalists are against devolving policing and justice. If these powers were devolved maybe it could be expected that the police force would confiscate illegally held weapons and arrest those connected with these weapons.Six county police find it very difficult to equate unionist/loyalist weaponry and republican weapons.A locally accountable police force is needed as soon as possible.
