"Northern Ireland is a better place"- Irish Times

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opi ... 76523.html

Generally impressed by how the weekend went, and with the Orange Orders efforts in relaunching the Twelfth festivities - the leading Dublin establishment paper's likely to form and confirm more opinions than a lot of the prejudiced, closed-minded stuff we see here from a few keyboard warriors on here.

The orange order is not relaunching itself - this is pure drivel and spin. In fact it was condemned by an ex-deputy grand master Rev Stephen Dickinson at Ballyclare on the 12th July last.

He is reported to have said the following.

"I notice that Peter Robinson and others have been saying in recent days we're about cultural tourism.

"This is about Protestantism, this is about Britishness - it's not about cultural tourism, Mr Robinson."

Just how can you confirm an opinion?
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

Yer about 30 years out of date (not bad for an Orangeman I grant you!) - the "leading establishment paper" of the modern Republic is the Indo group.

I suppose the article just means things in NI around the 12th aren't as bad as they used to be. That would be true, too.

I also think it's a bit outdated to be calling the IT the voice of Unionism! It is 2008!

The Irish Times is right, the six counties are a better place, now enjoying peace, investment, better infrastructure spend, accountable policing, equality, and a powershaing government by Nationalists and Unionists, together. These are outworkings of Sinn Féin's peace strategy and the GFA.
