    Id presume you are equally consider the 160,000 or so Southern Irishmen who fought against Nazism? Though of course your sort favoured the Nazi's to the British.

    These men and women are the reason you have freedom of speech on this site today.

    Why?
    'cause they don't all join the local units of the RIRA instead?

    The British Empire was built in part on the backs of Irish soldiers, who represented a large chunk of the British armed forces in the 19th century...
    And they weren't forced, far from it.

    While their choice isn't exactly ethical (British army are terrorists as pointed out), you can't say "strip the soldiers of their citizenship"...

    if we passed a law on it we could very easily

    Latest figures just released in the North show that the number of people from the Republic applying to join the British Army doubled over the past year.
    Figures released by the British Army Recruitment in Northern Ireland reveal that 10.5% of all enlistments there came from south of the border.

    In the year 2005/2006, just 3% of those who came through the doors of British Army recruitment offices in the North were from the Republic.

    The following year that increased to 4.5% and this year it has jumped to a total of 10.5%.

    Lieutenant Colonel D*ck Rafferty, the head of British Army Recruitment in the North said the numbers had been in decline.

    The growth could be down to less of a stigma amongst friends and family, he said, while soldiers could be seen on TV every night serving abroad.

    Quoting Lieutenant Paddy Bury from Wicklow now serving in Afghanistan with The Royal Irish Regiment, he said, Irish men join for a challenge, adventure, travel and camaraderie.

    This is either Loyalist Propaganda or that these idiotic people from Ireland have no wish to ever return.

    They will be hounded and never welcome again, personally they are idiots are btraying their country and joining the people who oppressed their Ancestors.

    I'd personally expel them and never allow them back........ even for burial!

    if that were true theyd be down in rossport shooting the guards

    the military force theyve joined bombed dublin on numerous occasions causing horrific casualties and may well do it again . It imported major weapons shipments for terrorist organisations in this country and used them as proxies against the civilian population north and south . Anyone joining this outfit may well be recruited and used in a terrorist capacity against the Irish people and on that basis should not only be shunned but also named and shamed as a mercenary and a potential subversive danger to public safety .

    I'd rather see an Irishman in a US Army Uniform than a British one! They helped and America has always helped us out, Britain on the otherhand never did a thing for Ireland.

    There will always be young men who seek adventure, who have aggressive tendencies and aspire to test themselves in situations of danger.

    Of course it could be said that Ireland offers peace keeping opportunities for such people now but not warmaking, killing opportunities for aggressive violent people, for the most part we are a 'stay out of it all' nation.

    Maybe we shouldn't be?

    The world is being split into factions, China, India, Russia, US etc. Resources are dwindling. Securing oil is important, perhaps one day we will see actions that are aimed at grabbing oil or whatever in a different light, especially as food, oil prices etc show no sign of slowing down.

    We have several psychopaths in our society, many found a home in the republican movement, others goined a foreign army.
    Fianna Fail will allow the Irish People, to me milked like Milch Cows, by the CIF through high house prices, rents, and land prices, at the expense of competitiveness,and quality of life. FF+CIF=1

    So you want to attack other countries - just like the Nazis and the British?

    just whats needed an FCA man walter mitty type to join in. what glorious duty have you carried out recently besides drilling around mullingar bks on a weekday night. i would think your completely unqualified to talk about a real army so go back to doin g guards in kilbride or the glen of imaal or playing with your world war 2 vintage 25 pounders

    in your ignorance you described me as an fca man;
    i am not an fca man;
    you pretend to have in-depth knowledge of irish military affairs yet you don't know that the fca no longer exists
    similarly, you know nothing at all about me;
    i, on the other hand, know a few things about you:
    almost all of your posts are either offensive or insulting;
    you bluff knowledge of current military matters, eg the gun you refer to is out of service;
    contrary to what your name suggests, you are anything but a saint;
    you come across as a bitter person;
    now, what does all of that say about you? :P
