Sorry Ciderman I just cant respect your decision to join the British army while they still occupy the North. If I met you in a bar and you told me you were in the British army I would just walk away in disgust.I would not abuse you or anything, i would just feel uncomfortable in your company.

I have less respect for Irish people who join the Brithish army than for the British people who join. They know no different, you know well how Irish people have sufffered under the boots of these soldiers on the strees of the 6 counties. I hope when your arm in arm with some of them on leave in the bars of Gibralta or Cyprus or where ever ye decide to go on leave, you think of the Irish people they have beaten and murdered in recent years and raise a glass!

You know you will never be able to broadcast what you have done in Ireland, except in the close company of people you trust. And some day you will be old and if you settle in Ireland ( which you probably wont, I know a few who have decided when they leave to settle in the sun amongst there British comrades ), all the kids will know you as the one who sold his community and sense of been Irish for a few quid and a sense of adventure.

You will never again be accepted or respected in Irish society except by your own family.

At the back of everyones minds will be the the traitor they are looknig and smiling at,just to be polite.

If my country was not still occupied by British forces I would not feel this way. Please pass on that message to your comrades when they are boasting about their tours of the North.

What alot of ********************e, most people in the republic are indifferent to the British army, their are some loudmouths like yourself, but underneath their is still intregue about the BA as many had an ancestor who once served in WW1 etc. The fact 2,000 locals turned out in Mayo for the funeral of an Irish Royal Marine killed in action proves you wrong. People kept their BA sympathies quiet for yrs cause they were scared of republican bully boys and bar room loud mouths like yourself.

    Final resting place

THE town of Westport came to a standstill yesterday (Monday), as one of its well-known and much-loved sons was laid to rest. Hundreds of people lined the streets shortly after 2pm as the funeral cortege of Marine Robert McKibben, flanked by his colleagues from the Royal Marines, mournfully made its way towards Aughavale Cemetary – stopping first of all at his family home, less than one kilometre from the graveyard.
Marine McKibben, or Robbie as he was known locally, was killed in action in Afghanistan on Wednesday, November 12, alongside fellow Marine Neil Dunstan. Both men were 32 years old.
Robbie’s body was flown into Ireland West Airport Knock and transferred to his family home at Carnalurgan on Saturday afternoon, where following a wake he was brought to St Mary’s Church in Westport at 7pm on Sunday evening. Despite the bitter cold, huge crowds lined the streets of the town and flowed in behind the hearse, before six uniformed Marines carried his coffin – draped in a Royal Marines flag and with his cap and belt atop – into the church.

...................incidently the Royal Marines at the funeral got a round of appaluse by the local people.

Non they are not, British infantrymen have the best personal issue kit in the world these days only issued to the special forces of many other armies.

Your five yrs out of date.

Could call you heart attack fodder, waster.

They turned out out of respect for him and not for anybody else or anything else. He was a popular fella in the area and had a large funeral similar to most young men who die prematurely. But don't let that stop you using his death to justify your own agenda.

The previous poster claimed if you join the British military, your community would reject you.....I proved he was talking BS.

    What agenda? Stop being duplicitous.
