    Derry's Protestant exodus shock

The Protestant population in Londonderry's Cityside has dwindled by more than 97%, a shocking new investigation reveals today.

A new documentary, to be screened next week, will show that less than 500 Protestants now remain on the west bank of Derry, less than 3% of the 18,000 housed there in 1969.

If this was Catholics, it'd be called "ethnic cleansing".

    Viewpoint: A disturbing exodus

It has long been known that the decline in the Protestant and unionist population of the west bank of the Foyle - Derry's most important political and economic region - has been prolonged and severe.

But the latest estimate appears to confirm that the exodus has been almost total, with just 500 people remaining from what was once an ancient and thriving community.

That translates as just 3% of the original pre-Troubles population of around 18,000.

Ethnically cleansing is the removal of a people, based on their culture, religion, or origin. How in this regard, have protestants no ethnicity?

This is ethnic cleansing and once again it proves that the GFA will not ease sectarianism, segregation etc.
Catholics in urban areas have become even more sectarian in recent years.

Would you call it ethnic cleansing by stealth?
