    Unionist Veto

When many people think of Northern Ireland they automatically think the whole place is protestant-unionist-loyalist however catholic-nationalist-republicans actually "control" more of its territory..

Really brings home how absurdly undemocratic the veto of unity is.

Your argument is akin to saying how ridiculous it is that over 1 million people get to vote in the Greater Dublin Area. How wrong is that, in comparison to the surface area of the state, Dublin gets too much say! Go figure.

Similarly, Republicans in the US 'Red States' control more of that territory, so should a Democrat never have the authority to become president?

Democrats don't make laws and use their own militia to stop them from getting in.

What has that got to do with territory?

In this country democrats respect the wishes of the people expressed as recently as 1998 (by an overwhelming majority).

Well put. You are right. It is proper to use those maps were politics are represented in proportion to the number of people not landmass.

What can be said however is that there should be, if you accept the apology of Unionism, only 4 counties should have been separated by partition.
