    Bot full of loons though.
It is fascinating - shows the support the OO has within the protestant community. Its not only protestants who attend OO parades in Northern Ireland or any other part of the world were the order exists.

How long does it span White Horse, you seem to know??
The most interesting issue in the AOH is the attempted takeover of the organisation by former members of the Provisional IRA and Sinn Fein.

Those that are opposed to the secularism and pro-immigration stance of the party are attempting to hijack the AOH and turn it into a Irish far-right organisation.

As most people will know here, the Irish AOH (as opposed to the separate American organisation) has been mainly involved in charity work and is based in Ulster, north Leinster, and north Connaught. It's members are primarily from the conservative wings of Fine Gael and the SDLP (ie. the old Irish Parliamentary Party that has merged into these respective parties).

I attach a link to an article describing the attempted take-over. I think it is an interesting read.

While both organisations are full of mad reactionary right-wing intolerant backward knuckle-dragging howl-at-the-moon inbred freaks, the AOH is a complete irrelevance while the OO has tens of thousands of members and causes months of chaos every bloody year with their ridiculous "marching season".

    Welcome back.

I am relieved that you haven't mellowed during your absence.

I'm glad to say that the OO has not been taken over by loyalist paramilitary thugs.

More stereotyping of both memberships Not helpful lads.

Over the past number of years I have worked with members of both organisations who have been involved in peace-building initiatives and attempts to get their respective organisations to look again at their histories and reach out to the other community. In fairness the AOH guys have been more willing to make moves as the OO people constantly had to look over their shoulders to see where a knife may be coming from.
