Catriona Ruane and her kids' education

Heard something on Today FM this morning, anyone know what it's about?

Something called "grannying" where her kids officially live in Co Louth yet go to school in the 06.

What's the problem with it though?

In her case nothing. Her children are being educated in schools that her taxes help to upkeep.

The problem (for the critics) is with people in the 26 counties who both live AND work there. They pay their taxes to Dublin yet avail of the health and education services paid for by others.

Simple solution - get rid of the border.

or simply stop accepting people into schools etc whom reside in a foreign country or at least place them at the bottom of the queue
Enda Kenny on FF government: “We’re in this mess, not because Fianna Fáil policies have failed, but because they have succeeded.”

Whether one dislikes it or not the cases are of people who were originally from the north but now living in the south dishonestly claiming to still reside with their parents etc (thus the term grannying). Students from the south still claiming to live at the addresses they used while studying, thus continuing to avail of free medical care and of property speculators using the addresses of properties they have bought claiming residency for themselves and their families again to avail of free medical care.

A doctor interviewed recently on Radio Ulster claimed that the figures for bogus healt care run into tens of thousands of patients with some GP's having more patients than exist according to the census.

This could be a case for the cross border bodies in dovetailing the present health and education services in the areas concerned.

We could stop wasting money down here by trying to educate idiots.
Banned temporarily by politics.co.uk (ie this site) so as not to "offend" the Brits during Mrs. Windsor's visit.
Still censored because I cannot start a thread!

    The best of all options.
