I heard a story years ago about Behan being on the lash one snowy night in Dublin.
Like most alcoholics, he knew that the morning shakes would be awful the next day, so as he went out the door of the pub he bought a naggin of Brandy and put it in his arse pocket.
On the way home with a drinking buddy he slipped and fell on his backside. He reached around and felt that his pants were wet, right where the brandy was. He looked up at his buddy and said..
" Sweet jesus, tell me it's blood, and not the Brandy""
Classic!
You'll find that the dail which is in force today in the 26, derived all its powers from a british legislator...Originally Posted by sandar

Behan did an interview on Canadian television in the late 1950s and the host asked Brendan what he was doing in Canada and Behan replied :
"Well, I was in a bar in Dublin and I saw a beer mat with 'drink Canada dry' written on it. So I thought I'd come over and give it a shot."
