Lough Neagh might be up for sale.

The Earl of Shaftesbury seen him on TV seems like a nice lad, who owns the Lough wants to sell it to the Executive. Now as it happens he doesn't own the water, just the land underneath the water.

So how's this for an idea the Executive tells him thanks for the offer, but no thanks. And suggest he builds himself a nice little Chez Nous on the bed of the lough and lives there happily ever after.

There has been enough landed gentry grabbers in the history of Ireland. They have been paid in full. So shag off back to the retirement home of the Lords, or get a real job.

Sorry Mackers. It's a very serious matter. I shouldn't make light of it

What is the point of the taxpayer buying it from him? Surely not a good use of tax receipts?

It apparently supplies 40% of NI's water so it's essential public utility. Just take it, without compensation. It was stolen in the first place.

How much of NI's territory is owned by the British aristocracy?

You can't do that, under EU law. There is a thing called the rule of law you know.
