Northern Ireland is not a country, it is not a province, it is not a nation or a state but a region of the UK in constitutional terms and in geographical terms it's part of the country called Ireland

I prefer the `six counties` myself. The term `Northern Ireland` implies that it is some sort of independent State, which of course it isn`t.

The only thing dumber than someone getting all pissy about what people call Northern Ireland is someone too stupid to know what the place is called as per the Republic's constitution. You live in Northern Ireland. You can call it whatever you want, but that's where you live.
