This illustrates that attacks on police also occur in loyalist areas and that the DUP too issue condemnations when they are attacked.Police officers have come under attack with stones and fireworks in County Down.
The trouble broke out as police were searching a number of houses in the Kilcooley estate in Bangor.
A group of youths gathered and set upon police. It is understood none of the officers was injured. At least one car has been set alight.
North Down assembly member Alex Easton condemned the trouble and called for calm in the area.
"The attacks on police should come to an immediate end," he said.
"Kilcooley has made outstanding progress over recent years and has excellent and dedicated community representatives - it is vital that nothing impedes the further progress of this area."
