I most certainly have, but not in Belfast. It is my experience that Belfast people who have never left that city seem to think they are all experts on racism, global conflict and in particular, American foreign policy.

I completely disagree. Sinn Fein's stance on Israel is one of last examples of where that once-principled party continues to show some backbone.
I really do not understand Irish Americans like Peter King who have the sense to see who was right and who was wrong in Ireland, yet have no such awareness regards Palestine. Off with the blinkers. The day the Yanks see what the rest of the world sees about Israel the world will be a better place.
It is a myth propagated by the Zionist lobby (and willingly adopted by most Americans) that Palestinian land was equally occupied by Arabs and Jews for centuries. As late as 1900 it was only about 3% Jewish. After the first world war, it was about 18% Jewish. It has slowly been stolen from the Arabs, most obviously by the Balfour Declaration and The British Mandate after the first world war, then general European and American guilt after the second world war. Make no mistake about it - guilt led to the creation of the state. Civilised people can not justify one wrong (the Holocaust) with another (colonisation of Arab land).
And Israel is not needed as an American ally. What does it provide? A "base in the region"? Please. Turkey is an ally.
Look up the statistics of who is killing who in Paelstine. Israelis are the terrorists. Not only by the obvious military methods but by maintaining a blockade that does not even involve an Israeli border (the blockade is between Gaza and Egypt) that ultimately leaves the entire Gaza strip with below-sustence levels of food, medicine, and fuel.
Israel is a racist state of scum. They are religious fanatics driven to what they do because their book of sky faries dictates that their religion is based upon the concept of a homeland. So they have no problem justifying murder to satisfy their religion.
