Am I crazy, or did this situation occur over a two-year period almost 30 years ago? Not that I don't think the man should have won his case, but I don't think this is a "just when you thought things were going well" situation.

Im going to change my name, and then everything that i done in the past has nothing to do with me.

The PSNI have to pay compensation, why do you think that is|

Mr Murphy, a Protestant, had worked for two years for the RUC in the 1980s and became a civilian photographer in 1998.

Didnt all this happen when he was a photographer for the psni and not when he was in he ruc?

Ahh ye know Paul it's astounding how far you'll go to defend sectarian bigots like "Inspector F and Acting Sergeant K". I think it's in everyone's interests to know if the pair are still members of a so called impartial police force and if not did they get nice big cushy bonuses for leaving like another large number of bigots who couldn't swallow reforms to the RUC.

And sure if there was two sides to the story... they didn't seem interested in putting forward their side of the story; "The PSNI were not in attendance nor were they represented at the fair employment tribunal"

That was how I read it. The actions definitely occurred when he was a photographer, not an officer. And the officers are still working ...

Of course they weren't. THEY were not the employers of those officers. THEY did not exist. As the legal successor entity they would deal with the outstanding issues from the ruling, but of course they were not at a case that did not occur during the PSNI.

Don't be such an idiot. St333ve. I presume you have more intelligence than the crap you posted above.

I'm not at all surprised by the anti-Catholic bigotry displayed by senior RUC members...

After all, their job description was to rid the 'Province' of Catholics

Yep, the bbc article is very badly written. I read a different report. This all happened between 1998 and 2001. That does put a different spin on it.

Fair enough. If it happened before reforms to the RUC then I can see why they wouldn't be there. It's still a matter of interest for the public to know if both officers are members of the PSNI (or even if they availed of big cushy pay offs).

    A few points

    1. The policing board was only established in November 2001 so his appeal had to be after that date so the results of the actions continued

    2. Somebody destroyed evidence to discredit this individual. A criminal act in itself.

    3. If the attitudes are "new" then he should have been taken back without having to resort to the Fair Employment Tribunal

    4. Somebody stole a wedding gift - again a criminal act (however petty)

I should point out that I am pro PSNI, but the overall conduct here is unacceptable.
