    Sammy, the Catholic outreacher

Ken Reid has just Tweeted that Sammy Wilson says the DUP are committed to a shared future.

There's a couple of basic problems here. I'm sure we all remember Robinson's out reach speech and that you could barely boil the kettle between that and the very same Sammy Wilson showing what a sham the speech was.

Those of us with long memories know that Wilson is nothing but a sarky bigot and a man with no regard for Irish culture at all.

Then we have the lower echelons of the party, the backbenchers and everyone's favourite, the councilors who are clearly stuck in a complete time warp who's greatest tool is to expose the real heart of the DUP.

Good luck Sammy and Peety, you'll need it.

any substance? links? or just your opinion?

imho dup outreach is designed for uup or floating voters if they get a few cnr voting for them or abstaining from voting for sf they will be happy and the reverse is also true of sf outreach policy...

Sammy we all know is Irelands greatest comedian and makes us all laugh at a regular basis.I hope he wont be copying the great Billy Connoly and rippin' the clobber off and runnin' around in the nuddy though.

Parties don't change in a day. The fact that they're moving in a particular direction would indicate that the party 20 years hence will be nothing like it is today.

Think of the British Tories in 1945 (Laborite socialism will need a Gestapo-like force to uphold it), and today. Still right-wing, but certainly nothing like the Tories of old.

A pathetic OP. The Sammy Wilson speech that was referenced was excellent in mocking the Provo's "Long Creche" and their imagery of indoctrination of the young with images of convicted terrorists and criminals as somehow being respectable.

When the DUP is 'reaching out' to Catholics, you know the writing is on the wall.

That's about the height of it.

None of the sectarian parties currently in Stormont has any chance of engaging or outreaching beyond the tribal confines. The DUP are just replicating SF cute-hoorism.

People need to think of their future wellbeing when voting, not their tribal past. The DUP / SF carve up is simply delivering a shared out now, with no future planned.

Outreach? Complete ballix from both parties. Ones no better than the other, but they are both in power and that's all that matters to each.
