Willie mightn't be the brightest spark in the world.
Frazer said in 1975 when the IRA shot dead his father Robert, a UDR man, a British army helicopter followed the killers to the Border but then had to stop because it lacked permission to enter Irish airspace. "How despicable is that," he added.
"Despicable"? I think that's pretty much standard practice. No country has automatic permission to enter another sovereign state's airspace after all.

Frazer had no problem with the Loyalists murdering hundreds of innocent Roman Catholics, his marchers wanted to carry a portrait of the British agent allegedly responsible for colluding with the UVF unit that bombed Dublin and Monaghan at the 2006 parade and there is good reason to believe that he still has links to loyalist terrorist organisation (he was denied a permit to own a weapon because of such links according to a Chief Inspector of the PSNI). Such a man has one aim, and one aim only, that is to provoke more tension and insult republican/nationalist traditions on the anniversary of the 1916 Rising. Would your community be happy to allow a parade of people who claimed to be Loyalist victims carry portraits of Bobby Sands (or some IRA member who was involved in killing OO members) down the Shankill Road on the 12th of July? Because this is essentially what it boils down to. Frazer wants to goad republicans and nationalists and bait them.

    my tuppence..

    a) the ROI government needs to admit to its faults.
Of course it should, as should the British government- allow access to the files on the Dublin-Monaghan bombings

    b) willie frazier would not be my choice to lead any movement/protest, but he is an egotist and after his huge following at the elections he believes he is the chosen one...
    Willie Frazer is certifiable.
    c) anyone who thinks its ok to attack a peaceful protest, regardless of their opposition to the protests ideology, should remember big ian's actions in 1969.
No one here has condoned violence against this parade (yet).

    d) the apprentice boys of derry hold a parade every easter monday it will attract 30/40k the Jr OO hold a parade every easter tue it will attract 20/30k, this will be lucky to get 3/400.
It's all about location and the marchers' intentions. Their intention is to insult republicans and incite a reaction from them.

Good man yourself. You've risen for the bait. Willie Frazer would be delighted to read this.

    a) What faults? Did the ROI government have an official policy on aiding IRA or was it rogue elements. The border could have been manned from NI's side as well if there was concerns about the IRA fleeing in the rep. Why is it the view that this was the job of the ROI government?

    b) No little about him, so I won't make a comment.

    c) Peaceful protest, really. What right do nationals from a foreign county have to march down the centre of the capital city of another country and than have the cheek to call their democratic right? They don't even reside here. Do they really have such a right and why the belief that they have? How can they think that this is acceptable? This is provocation, pure and simple. If permission is granted for their march, hope the government bill them for all the security and damage if there is trouble. Cash up front.

So do these marchers just intend to elbow past and through the state commemoration that will be happening outside the GPO on Easter?

The article didn't say whether or not permission had been granted, just that the Gardaí had been notified. I can't see them giving permission for that on the same day and same place, just purely for logistical reasons, if nothing else.

Let them come. Let them march.

If people want to provocatively demonstrate up and down the streets of a 'foreign' capital behind a man who has acted as an apologist for some exceptionally vile murderers, let them. Let them seek sympathy and a fair hearing as they stand behind and in support of a man who supports the KKK, a man who spoke out against the imprisonment of loyalist killers.

Let these people do this. Let the world see these people, warts and all.
I for one would be happy to see anybody publicly align themselves with this odious cretin while playing any sort of victim card regardless of what horrors have befallen their families.

SN typifies what I said in the other thread about Willie Frazer - he's too pathetic to hate so most nationalists seem to just laugh at him. Which is what you're supposed to do with clowns.

Personally I would like him to have a march in Dublin every month then everyone can see what an angry silly wee bigot he is.

Would imagine this is all bluff and bluster from Frazer. Apart from a few followers I dont think he has much support, I hope not anyway. Did he stand in any election?
