Debate on Edinburgh power stimulates calls for more Belfast powers?

NI needs to take reins from London - Letters - News Letter

It is interesting to read in the staunch unionist newspaper the above letter, and the positive comments below it, which calls for greater power for Belfast. To date there has been little appetite for greater devolution and powers to Belfast, let alone independence. I cannot help but wonder if this kind of thinking - calls for greater power for Belfast - is is a possible outworking of the SNP-driven call for more powers in Edinburgh?

“There is also a possibility that people here might start to go down the road Scotland has been on for the last few years in terms of getting greater powers. That would require devolution here to be a bit more purposeful but if the parties can show agreement on tackling difficult issues like the 11 Plus, the growing confidence from that will result in demands for greater powers and there could be further developments there

If these figures are correct then NI is a net contributor to the UK economy. Kind of blows the whole "we could not afford the north" argument out of the water.

Are the British government lying about how much revenue NI generates from taxes?

How much is raised in taxes?
Is the figure of 18.8bn correct for expenditure?
