Sinn Féin sport minister welcomes new Ravenhill Stadium

BBC News - Plans for Ravenhill refurbishment are unveiled

Sports Minister Caral Ni Chuilin said the announcement was a "milestone" for Ravenhill. "This progress will enable rugby to move to the next stage of their ambition to have a stadium that will fully meet their needs well into the future," the Sinn Féin minister said. "Having secured up to £110m earlier in the year for the development of regional stadiums for rugby, gaelic games and football, I am delighted that a point has been reached which will enable us to begin to see progress on the ground. The stadium development programme is a key priority for me"

The increased capacity means it is capable of hosting a Pro12 final or Heineken Cup quarter-final match. Good for sport -- and morale generally -- in the six counties!

A vindication of Sinn Fein's Sports and Athletics Policy.

Great news for ulster rugby. The plans look really good and have big tourist potential with many incoming supporters with money to spend in NI. I've been a couple of times in the last 2 years and the rugby is a very good night out.

Happy days. Other half is a season ticket holder, I only get to a few games a season but looks good!

GAA/IRFU will no doubt create interest and revenue.....but IFA going there.....no way imo, simply because they have not earned the right to participate in sport due to their checkered sectarian history.

I think GAA already declared big nvestment in Casement with view to it taking over from Clones. Seems IFA out on a limb. Hard to see how they can get Windsor up to international standards.they wont go to Casement so maybe a lease from Ravenhill is their answer.
It's only a bit of craic

Sometimes you can bluff that you have the faintest comprehension of the subject matter, and sometimes it is so clear that you don't that I almost feel embarrassed for you. This occasion is one of the latter.

In the end I was too busy laughing to be embarrassed for you.

Save yourself some time....type "I hate all things Protestant or British as they are all scum" and simply paste that into every thread. It'll have the same impact but in a more candid way.

You sound a rather bizarre poster to me sir, attempting to put your words into others mouths reminds me of what Josef Goebbels was all about......should be ashamed of yourself .....end of.

Good news for Rugby. A single stadia would have probably been my prefered option but would any of the sports have been able to fill a 40k arena outwith the odd massive fixture? Not much worse for a good atmosphere than an empty stadium.

Regarding the IFA I am sure they have already stated that they are doing major work on WP?
