éirígí, SDLP, Sinn Fein, & Davy Hyland furious at ex-RUC role in PSNI

Eirigi, SDLP, Sinn Fein and Davy Hyland furious at ex-RUC officers role in PSNI - Newry Times | Newry Times

The Above link is regarding the RUC/PSNI, and how public representives in Newry are furious, that the PSNI "civilian" branch is made up of 75% "ex"-RUC men. Also note the Christmas Cards sent out by the RUC/PSNI to the SF represnentive.

Just as we have had the RIC, then the RUC, now the PSNI, British Policing in Ireland has always the same function, to protect British Interests in Ireland.

The RUC, they haven't gone away you know!

BBC News - Former RUC officer criticises rehiring process

A former RUC officer rehired by the PSNI after retiring with a Patten redundancy package has criticised the recruitment process used.

The former officer said he was recruited as a driver for the police without an interview for a job that was not publicly advertised.

"I don't dispute that they need these officers, but there's employment legislation, it's been in place since 1976 and they have found a way, in my opinion, of subverting that legislation"
That would be the Fair Employment Act.

And why not ? You think they should be protecting the interests of the likes of éirígí ?

Would you criticise the NYPD for looking after US Interests rather than al Quaeda ?

If there is an issue here people who are concerned can contact any SF representative on the Policing Board and they will look into the matter.

I see no difference in this and schools reemploying early retirement teachers as substitutes, or doctors rehiring old ex-colleagues as locums.

Surprising that Sinn Féin appear not to have contacted themselves, then.

Is anybody really surprised that policing has not really changed? One day the shinners and co are boasting about the great changes they made and the next showing that the changes are little more than cosmetic.
The headline, by the way, is hilarious .

The Act you presumably refer to is the 1989 Act which has been amended by other legislation as time passed. This act did not cover clearly the use of working for an agency. The ex-RUC/PSNI officer in the story was employed by the recruitment agency, not the PSNI and was employed on a temporary contract with specific terms. It doesn't appear to have broken the law regarding recruitment practices in the public sector as he wasn't working in the public sector and the agency had won the tender in compliance with equality-based public procurment practice. The ex-policeman also left the PSNI in 2001 and not long after was remployed (was it not about a year later?) but regulations on agencies didn't come into effect until approx 2005. It would appear there isn't a legal issue.

    Here is a list
    The Miami Showband Killings
    The Murder of Pat Finucane
    The Loughinisland Massacure
    The Murder Rosemary Nelson
The Interment of Gerry McGeough, Marian Price, Martin Corey.
The extension of the MI16 Barracks in Hollywood
An Innocent man Colin Duffy spent 3 years in Prison. (a set up)

Just some to name a few. Have these issues being broad up at the SF meetings with PSNI? Do the PSNI investigate the murders in the RUC? Do they, the RUC/PSNI investigate themselves?

Are there future PSNI/RUC Christmas cards to be sent out? Have these so-called policing boards power to investigate some if any of the above issues....No it’s all a nice smokescreen.
