Is the El Paso not a loyalist bar and fairly central? I used to drink in there the odd time when visiting years ago. I much preferred the Royal Arms (it's no longer there) Silverbirch Hotel and the Monument Bar though. I've no idea what sort of bars they are though. All were decent enough and welcoming but El Paso definitely felt more one-sided.

El paso -learned how to play pool in there ! Yes , was at that time only Prod pub ,though I drank (and still do on my return visits) in Charlies which was RC owned in my time but now Prod owned. Royal Arms -great spot ,owner is stalwart in Rugby club . No longer with us ,now got Main Street with bars /shops owned by Michael McElroy -very good complex. Monument -long gone.Omagh RC's very tolerant ,usually down to the fact that many joined BA as it had 2 camps in town.Rural RC's much more bitter in Carrickmore etc.

There was a bar called McElroys I think and it had a confession box in the corner of it. It was behind the big church at the top of the town with the lop-sided twin spires. It didn't feel like a place to wear my football scarf though, hence El Paso was a more obvious choice. There was also a bar across the road from El Paso which was reasonable too, can't remember the name.
