    Ulster Nationalism

Would an unified Ulster with de-facto independence in the Irish republic be acceptable to unionists or even nationalists? ability to make its own laws(within reason), own holidays etc

That way both camps are happy to some degree, unionists aren't being "ruled" by Dublin and nationalists are in the republic and part of the Irish identity officially

Personally i would be happy with anything that removes westminster rule from ireland.
Once were out of the uk we can get on with taking full control of our own affairs, as only the people in the north know what needs to be done.
I would think that the north would also become fully integrated into the EU, the dail has already the knowledge needed through trial and error to use our corporation tax rate and european funding to create an economic boom.
the north economy is a sleeping tiger it just needs the chance to waken up.

I can't see how Unionists or All Ireland Nationalists can support this. By doing so they cease being Unionists or Nationalist.

Thats the point, it unites the people and kills that division as we would be all "Ulstermen"

Anyone have any pointers to Ruari O'Bradaigh's writings on federalism? Might be interesting to compare & contrast.

That site is very red white and blue, and talks about the need to be loyal to something.
I think it wants an independent ulster (misuses the name as usual) which isnt an option and its on the shankill road.

You also need to pay to read it, no thanks.

I think its encouraging that loyalists do seem to be turning away from britain, well mainly england.

Yes, it would sweeten the deal also for unionists aswell as it increase "their" Ulster's territory, of course the bits of Ulster in the republic right now what have to be asked to join and I don't think they would reject it right out of hand as it would give them more powers aswell for their own affairs.

Would also increase the catholic population of this resurrected unified Ulster to balance things up more to keep the voting equal.
