BBC News - Augentius Fund Administration creates jobs in Belfast

Good news: 164 new jobs in the six county financial sector announced today.

The CEO of the firm, Mr Bailey, anounced the jobs today.

According to the BBC Mr Bailey explaied that the "availability of high quality people along with a strong educational sector" were important factors in making the decision to locate in Belfast.

There has been a lot of investment since the GFA. Part of the GFA was the devolution of education to six county ministers. Partisan comments to one side, the Education Portfolio has been in Sinn Féin's control since the GFA, and so it is especially encouraging that investors now point to the six county education system as a reason for their choice, as it shows that local ministers have been doing a good job.

Again this is another example of how the north suffers economically by having economic policy which which is not in the regions best interest forced on it because it is in the best interests of south east england.

Yet the RoI is prospering under policies that are in the best interests of the Germans?

The Education system has always been in good shape in Northern Ireland. Sinn Fein ministerial input has resulted in a negative impact to the system regarding the transfer process and created unnecessary stress, uncertainty and trauma for children, parents and teachers. Sinn Fein also has also pursued a sectarian approach to education ensuring tribal division for its own benefit. You cannot claim Sinn Fein has been good for education in Northern Ireland in any shape or form never mind for this particular good news story which will rely on university educated people, something which Sinn Fein thankfully has never had ministerial responsibility.

Can you explain the figures? I've never understood how unemployment is down but unemployment benefit claimant figures rise. What's that about?

Employment is the number of people in jobs
Unemployment is the number of people who would like jobs but who cannot get jobs.
    Inactivity is the rest.

So if inactivity falls, then both employment and unemployment can rise. For example, more people decide not to be a student.

Bottom line is that if the number of jobs is increasing, that is a good sign in terms of output per capita.
