Property prices NI fastest rising in Europe

House price inflation in North is based on nothing more than hype.
They will keep raising for at least another 12 mths and depending on how BOE treats interest rates will raise at a slower rate.
One of the main reasons for property price increase is the fact that the Housing Executive have practically stopped building new schemes.
So those who used to depend on them can now get mortgages as the banks are throwing money at them.
The NI economy is the most subsidised in Europe, with the Brits pumping billions into every year.

Scotland and Wales are also heavily subsidised infact everywhere outside London and the SE is.

Is it not better they control building in the North, instead of allowing villages and the countryside to be wrecked by over building which is whats happening in the south ?

Is it not good that the UK funds proper roads, an NHS, proper infrastrucre in the North ?

Would you rather it was like the South ?

But nowhere near to the extent of 6 counties.

I'll not disagree with you that the Republic is nearing a state of
" overbuild " with many areas left with houses that are lying empty.
It will be interesting to see what the Stormont executive will do to this very unpopular measure of restricting rural developments.

It has become very evident that Westminster has taken a conscious decision to pull back on subsidising the place. NHS crisis, water charges, etc. Maybe they are hoping Dublin will row in and give them a hand as the place certainly would not stand on it's own feet.
