This is the link to the actual piece (or 2 minutes of it anyway). It's enough to give you an idea of the sensationalist angle it was taking.

Sunday Night Videos - Yahoo!7 TV

ps: disregard the 2008 comment in my above post. Got a wee bit confused.

I somehow guessed you might have done.

What's that mean? I've also spent some evenings in other Dutch towns. German ones too.

You have an uncanny ability to have been in any place mentioned in any thread.

    Even in Australia, I believe.

Yes I've been to Australia. I can't remember mentioning that, but so what?
I visited Roermond for one evening about four years after this incident the thread is about. Is that so strange? When you are driving about in that area as a tourist it's easy to cover a lot of ground in a short time. I also visited Maastricht at that time.
And Aachen in Germany nearby. Just to visit. It's what tourists do. The German - Dutch/Belgian border is a very interesting area. Lots of historical significance as far as WW2 goes. Take a drive through the Belgian Ardennes and stop in the forest - and you cant help but think of German tanks trying to break through in December 1944. Also, that lovely little towns like Roermond were under occupation for five years.
Picador has me down as ''a spy''. Maybe I was on some Jason Bourne type misson in Europe in the mid 90s.

Yet another spook thread. Why is everyone so willing to believe every word that Brit intelligence leaks out?

It seems at this stage if we are to believe them and the snippets of info they pass on to various tv documartary makers, that it fought a 30 war with itself, and the irish were just role players in their games.

Its a bit like the IRA saying they knew about the Loughal ambush in advance but had to let it go ahead to protect the identidy of an RUC informant.

It did not come anywhere close to making the case that the murders should have been prevented. With the exception of the point that there was a very strong case against the alleged killers, most of the claims made in the program simply do not stand up to serious scrutiny. At one point the intrepid Aussie even accused Gerry Adams of being in the IRA!

Worth watching for Brendan Hughes's Dublin accent and Donna Maguire stuck at a set of traffic lights.

The IRA were led by British example of extra-judicial murder with the Gibraltar murders, thats why the Brits are responsible. Unfortunate that these 2 were innocent and not British military personnel, however it was war mistakes happen. The simple way to prevent these deaths would of been for Britain to PULL OUT of the 6!

It was the IRA who murdered the two Australians, not the poms.
