Yeah that is a great question SevenStars - you're surprising me today.

I don't think there's anything in the OO's rules that mention anything about NI's constitutional position (as it was formed well before that ever became an issue). So, as long as you were a protestant Irish Republican who practiced their faith and opposed violence I think you probably would be admitted.

Might be an interesting one to e-mail the OO with yourself to get a definite yes or no.

What do you mean by opposed to violence?

Seeing as they allow in members of the British army and march every year to celebrate the victory of a battle I hardly think that opposition to violence in principle is a necessity for joining the OO .

Sorry that should have said illegal violence (ie. Irish republican criminality and murder).

Fighting in a democratic country's army is fine.

As an aside, if they did allow you to join, would you expect to be allowed to march down the Garvaghy road

Yeah but the thing is as a Irish Republican my alligence is to the First Dail and they legally sanctioned the Irish people to resist the British forces of occupation....So Im guessing even if I was male and lived near a Lodge the answer would be no...

Obviously they're not going to let someone join who supports IRA violence.

I'm sure you could still go along and watch though...

Why not if they are a good believing Protestant opposed to the power of Rome if thats what they are all about?

Anyway as a Prod I believe that Freemasonary is opposed to the Gospel and therefore incompatible with Protestantism.

I consider the OO a Freemasonic and not a Protestant organization.

In what way do you consider it Freemasonic?
