You mean the terrorists formed by Carson who shipped in ILLEGAL guns from Germany to Ulster for an ILLEGAL paramilitary terrorist gang who threatened to use 'whatever means possible' to oppose the totally legal democratic will of the people of Ireland during the Home Rule bill?

The UVF who threatened the British government and wanted to set up an idependent provisional government in Belfast?

UVF is and always has been a terrorist organisation, even if they were used by the Brits as cannon fodder, something they are stranegly proud of.

I asked about Kick the Pope bands, not for yet another sh*testorm.

Thanks for all the videos. To be honest, I could not find anything obviously offensive in the bands, though the "under the bridge" video does show some dubious audience.

When discussing a (theoretical) Orange parade in Dublin, I repeatedly heard the statement "no Kick the Pope bands". As an anti-Pope message itself is no longer a problem these days (Ryan Report and all), I was really puzzled what's the problem with them.

    I remain puzzled.

The WWI re-enactors (UVF Regimental) look especially cool. These at least should be "down South" -at events with the other re-enactors. Hope they are.

Keep practising bhoys - you'll get better with time!
We dont have a culture of parading, no-one cares.
If theres a small parade once in a blue moon then thats more than enough.

The problem is that you're addicted to parading, its immense.
Irish people dont want to do what you love, its not part of our culture.
I dont really see it as culture, its just celebrating war.

No-one wants to immitate the Orange Order, theyre despised worldwide.
All they do is gather up a load of old men who look like they spent a month ironing their gloves and socks so they can walk down a road, its hardly exciting.

Do the Orange Order sell Orange music all over the world, could they compete with the Riverdance or Gaelic games?
Do they have any good poetry, legends, myths?
Musical instruments, traditional sports or an identity that is celebrated in almost every country in the world like St.Patricks day?

We dont try to imitate the J-walking culture of the OO, we wouldnt waste the money on silly disruptive marches as we are more concerned with real culture, like the best music the world has ever heard.
Nothing comes close to Irish music.
I couldnt give a stuff if you dont like Republican marching bands, theyre very few and far between as they are not an important part of Irish culture.
We have sooo much more, we dont need to concern ourself with such hateful displays of loyal pawns degrading themselves worshipping Britain and its wars.

Did the Orange Order invent parading, no?

Irish culture is the best in the world, I love it.
That silly nasty hateful Orange Order nonsence is pathetic.

Looking at all their videos they all play the same old tunes with the same 2 instruments which sound horrible, unless you like the sound of a huge drum banging constantly all over the place with someone playing the tin whistle badly behind them.

Loyalist marches are sad, no fun and extremely boring.
I know which one I'd rather watch...

If Orange marching is so great, WHY DON'T ANY OF THEM EVER SMILE!???????????

Border-rat is not my pal and I doubt he is Tiocfaidh's either. The Republican movement drove the fash in the 26 counties off the street and many, many IRA volunteers paid the ultimate sacrafice fighting fascism in Spain. The fact is that Blood and Honour bands played regularly in loyalist areas....Anyway zionism is pretty close to Hitlerism.

Good post. Marching bands provide a focal point for 1000s in the unionist community, it is the largest movement of its type in the UK. If I were to walk into Gordon Brown's office tomorrow and offer him something that took kids off the streets, provided them with free music tuition, gave them a sense of discipline and belonging, impressed upon them a universal anti-drugs policy; all in an entirely voluntary basis, I think he would bite my hand off. There are more bands now than ever, as the politicisation of the movement by embittered Republicans no longer holds as much sway.

I hear so much from republicans that there's no such thing as 'Unionist/Orange/Ulster culture' yet hundreds of Republicans have no problem trying to imitate (poorly) our world wide respected parading culture.
So parading/marching to music is a distinctly Northern Irish Unionist tradition/invention???
I don't see anything unique about it at all. It goes on all over the world.

I thought their many Paramilitary links with drug dealers and their attempts to destroy St.Patricks day by marching their cronies through Nationalist areas are what politicise them.

Alsp maybe the fact that they hold Political speeches, political flags, gather up Unionist politicians and tell them what to do etc. is political?

Theyre an openly political organisation, hostile to Irish culture and people.
Republicans didnt label them as this it is what they are and they arnt afraid to hide it.
