    South Antrim undecided.
    North Belfast is missing.

Apart from Ian Parsley I think the candidates are all UUP.

    Irwin Armstrong?

Irwin Armstrong is a conservative party member. He is a very successful businessman.

North Belfast is Fred Cobain <yawn> but he is not going to win the seat so doesn't matter i guess.

The Tories wouldn't run Deirdre Nelson in North Antrim? Tis no wonder she's quitting the party!

Has Cobain the socialist definitely been selected as UCUNF candidate for N. Belfast?

update: It seems Cobain has indeed been selected. Here is confirmation of the latest eight candidates to be announced.

The idea of a UUP-DUP electoral pact is surely now dead.

    What's happening in South Antrim?

Deirde ran specifically for East Belfast, not North Antrim.

Yes, its great isn't it. As a unionist I'd rather nail my foot to a plank of wood than be associated with the DUP. The DUP might withdraw from F&ST and SB, but that is there decision. I think they won't this unionist unity crap they are spouting is a rouse.

I'm guessing the Conservatives are not happy with your homophobic man who is offended by gaelic tops. Both reasons are reason to be concerned.

Perhaps they're saving South Antrim for the Catholic unionist!

UTV Live is reporting that Sylvia Hermon will announce shortly that she is to stand as an Independent. The DUP are unlikely to oppose her. If that remains the case then Hermon is certain for re-election.

Which would be evidence, at last, of a shrewd political brain somewhere in the DUP, neatly wiping out any hope of a UCUNF MP.

    I like it!

Robinson is one shrewd operator. Two short months ago the DUP were on the ropes. Now they administering yet another beating to the UUP.

Actually Iris Robinson demanded £5000 from her teenage lover for business while Peter Robinson looked on and Peter Robinson in the spotlight investigation had questions attached to him and questions about how he managed to allow his wife to be have the way she did so I think his career is very much in the balance. The DUP are - it is said - terrified of an election - what with Irisgate , double jobbing, and the expenses scandals - and that is why they agreed devolutio of policing and justice. I suspect they will lose a lot of votes over all of this. Dodds just wanted to take over after rather than before the inevitable rout that will come in the election.

You are a few weeks out of date. The credible alternative to the DUP, i.e. the UUP, is no longer credible.
