Can anyone remember who said that he votes at every election for the ugliest communist on the list? I just can`t remeber who said that. However, it is such an excellent voting-advice.

The results are a damning indictment of RSF and their leadership. They should learn from those in Foyle who ran an excellent campaign for Peggy O'Hara, allowing her to poll respectably.

I think we have to be realistic about this. Nationalists in the six have adopted a wait an see position. They feel that the Stormont Castle assembly is likely to go ahead and its better for them to have the biggest representation possible in it. A great many people who would never support the RUC/PSNI voted for the Stickies, simply because they believe that the Stickies will represent them more robustly than the SDLP would. That said, I commend all the Sinn Féin candidates in the highest terms and all those Republicans who have not been distracted by Stormont Castle and who voted Sinn Féin. It was a small start, but a good one that will be built on as the people see that Stormont Castle tends towards copperfastening partition, not weakening it. I also commend all other abstentionist candidates, particularly Peggy O'Hara, who is a credit to the memory of her beloved son.

    Cael a few points:
    1. I'm a member of Sinn Féin - you are not get over it!
    2. Your party was comprehensively rejected by the Republican electorate in the 6. O'Bradaigh spoke in terms of "When elected" so RSF obviously mis-read the mood of the community. Which in itself poses a number of questions. i.e how did RSF get it so wrong etc. are RSF so out of touch with the nationalist/republican community?
    3. Can't wait to see how your spin meister will spin these results in Tribune tomorrow.
    4. If I was a member of your party, I think I would have some soul searching to do and whoever proposed the crazy electoral intervention has some explaining to do. But some how from my experience I don't think ye will take on any lessons from it.
    5. What is with the "electoral intervention" in Limerick East? Hardly a Republican heartland!

why are we still debating a party that means nothing? these guys are smaller than the peedees ffs!!! the pds!!!

I guess it's been a slow news week down south, and the NI elections pertty much threw up no surprises..
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

Stormont Castle is a castle in the grounds where civil servants currently work, you pillock. The building you are referring to is the Stormont Parliament Buildings. No wonder your party is such a joke when you cannot even get your geography right.
