McGeough arrested after leaving count centre

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/n...nd/6432381.stm

Independent republican candidate Gerry McGeough has been arrested over "serious terrorist crime".
Mr McGeough, who is 46 and a candidate in Fermanagh and South Tyrone, was arrested after leaving the count centre in Omagh on Thursday afternoon.

It is understood he is being questioned about the attempted murder of a UDR member in 1981.
Very strange. Obviously they didn't want to give him publicity durng the election, but why has he only been arrested now for a 1981 offence? Curious indeed...

Maybe ditching the SF/IRA security blanket wasn't such a good idea after all.

The RUC have been very quiet in the run up to the election. Seems they didn't want to cause any problems for their new friends. Republicans should now be ready for an onslaught by crown forces in the coming weeks and months.

And surely this was a political decision to arrest him for daring to challenge British rule, and also the timing of the arrest is political. "No more political policing" is quickly being shown for the lie that it was.

SF/IRA does not exist. Therefore everything you say on the issue is pointless.

Can there be any doubt the timing of this was to send a message to republicans as to who rules Ireland?

Will SF be testifying for the prosecution?

Why would they need to bother, given McGeough's lamentable less than 2% vote?
