No, we must complete the circle of one actor's career...

No, Stephen Rea looks more like him.

I must admit to being a bit underwhelmed by the financial irregularity as well, unless I've missed something. Given the way the story developed, I suspect people were expecting some major piece of criminality.

I think the interest in this story has more to with the unusual fact that both husband and wife were public representatives, and clearly any marital indiscretion would inevitably end up in the public glare, and also the other details, which hardly need repeating.

I feel sorry for the two of them, more so for her. He will probably come out of this ok, but she has paid a heavy price, and considering the kind of community they live in, she will have to endure the ignominy of it for a long time to come.

I believe the spotlight on this particular scandal is inappropriate (though understandable, given the dramatis personae). I'm getting the feeling that the Sinn Feiners here and elsewhere are olympically ignoring the other scandal in the hope that it'll go away.

Yee're probably right to some extent: the subject matter of this thread will make the other issue disappear.
    Temporarily.

No,it will all come out in the end and the electorate will make their decision. maybe the same should apply to Mr Robinson,Some people must be getting it hard to keep the thread on Mr Adams going when you are trying to derail this one,

BBC News - Robinson allegations - who's involved?

From the above link - can I just clarify from the above link from those who watched the spotlight programme. Having procured the 50,000 from developers for Kirk while she was having the affair did Iris then demand the money be paid back when the affair ended thereby forcing the young lad she was supposed to be looking out for at his deceased fathers request to sell his half share? Unless I've picked it up totally wrong from the BBC link the morality of this situation just gets more and more twisted and my previous sympathy for a woman who is ill is taking a serious bashing. This looks simply vindictive and compounds the dubiousness of the initial financial inappropriateness.

I'm not trying to derail this one. I think the contrast with the other scandal is both relevant and interesting.

    Don't you?

If anything, the minor nature of what seems to be the financial scandal is a reflection of the fact that the DUP seem to expect far, far higher standards than even the more honest political parties from south of the border.

No, Rea is too much of a scruff. He can be Martin McGuinness.
You might get James Nesbitt as P if he scrubs up.

All of the following starts with "allegedly"...

Possible criminal acts arising from the issues surrounding this issue:

    1. Failure to declare a business interest under ethics legislation
    2. Influencing the decision of the Council for her own and her then lovers gain (re Lockkeepers)
    3. Failing to declare income to the tax authorities
    4. Corruption

I know we look on that as normal politics in the South, but you just have to look at the way the MPs expenses issue blew up in the UK to see how serious this is for her.

As for shagging a young fella, the only reason it is an issue is because of her hypocrisy, you know picking the bits of the Bible she decides to follow.
