Assuming what we already can speculate about the revelations I think its unlikely that P Robinson will have to resign - this is all about his wife and he did not know what was going on at the time of the financial stuff.

People in the six counties so far has responded well to his interview.

Of course something may come out that implicates P Robinson but if not then I think the DUP electorate will not hold it against Robinson.

If anything the humility from him and the sympathy for him may help his profile.

    Ok fair enough.

I suppose the question is how the DUP grassroots are reacting to this issue

These people don't think like liberals - in fact to them liberalism is a disease like leprosy.

"Blame Iris" won't work either - in their world her actions would reflect on her husband.

I reckon the affair is far more upsetting to the DUP voter than any financial stuff.

Although, were it not for the financial stuff, this story would probably never have been made public. Instead Iris's "I'm retiring because of depression" would have been the end of the matter.

Gerry Adams must be mightily relieved that the media are all over this one and not his own (untenable in any normal environment) position. I wondered why the DUP weren't going near the Adams issue despite the clear contradiction of his version of events. Now we know why....

    I don't think so factual

Remember, the DUP has been in many ways the political wing of the free presbyterian church for decades.

Maybe some of its younger members have moved on but a substantial rump of its supporters are good old fashioned hardline fundamentalists who are opposed to their women line dancing let alone playing away from home with younger men!

Michael Paterson was the 'independent' consultant Psychologist on BBC News tonight sympathising with Iris and other politicians being in the limelight.

BBC however didn't mention that he is a director of TMR Health Professionals.

According to www.trauma-stress.co.uk the other director is Dr Paul Miller - Iris' lovely psychiatrist who turns gays!

TMR's premises are at Newforge - a short walk along the towpath from the soon to be famous LockKeepers Inn.
I commenting about him earlier. He is a one armed mind doctor. This story is going all roads and directions. It's like Iris the Virus. I wonder will there be any archive stuff from the BBC's Restoration show.

Remember RJH that the electorate punished the DUP at the euro's after the expenses scandal.

Or did they punish them for going into government with SF? The bigots drifted to the TUV...

We shall have to see. In my view the sex stuff people will say is private and not Peter's fault, while the money stuff it depends whether Peter is implicated which it looks like he is not. So I predict he will hold on. But its fun to have the two preductions we can get back in a week to see who is right.

The Euro result was probably a whole range of things plus the fact that Alistair is a very powerful candidate.
