If what's cited on election.ie is the 'substance' of the latest allegations then the Tribune's story would appear to be little more than a bit of journalistic tittle-tattle desinged to boost circulation.

Politics is about perception, not essence.
Beyond which, being politics.ie people should really be more interested in the political implications rather than the salacious personal aspects of it. Frankly I have little interest in the soap opera behind it and I just wish them the best for their marriage - which is their own private business.
Well i think if Robinson covered it up for Iris then hes got problems, but if he can answer these then fair enough.
But still it does look bad- NI is a conservative society- espcially DUP voters.

I agree. However according to the Tribune, at least as reported on election.ie
" Iris Robinson’s affair with Kirk McCambley isn’t her first. She had an affair with a fellow DUP member in the 1980.
It was witnessed by security force members voluntarily guarding the Robinsons’ home after the RUC officially withdrew protection over Peter Robinson’s loyalist invasion into Clontibret."
I think someone is being sent the message that we have dirt on you too. Look... reliable, security force type witnesses to back it up.
Also when you have party members, speculating about a change of leader then you know power is moving away.
