Last week two e[COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]missaries[/FONT][/COLOR] of the Legion of Mary turned up on my doorstep
I thought the Legion had been dissolved, but No, at least not in Derry. My neighbour was interrogated at length about his wedding. So you are newly married but have a 17-year old son; did you get an annulment? why not?
Is this a Northern Ireland thing or are the [COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]Legionnaires[/FONT][/COLOR] spread across the island?

The Legion of Mary is an association of Catholic laity who serve the Church on a voluntary basis.It was founded in Dublin, Ireland, as a Roman Catholic Marian Movement by layman Frank Duff. Today between active and auxiliary (praying) members there are in excess of 10 million members worldwide making it the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church.
To be in the Legion of Mary, one must be a practising Catholic. Active members serve God under the banner of Mary by practising the Spiritual Works of Mercy. The main apostolate of the Legion consists in activities directed towards all men and women, young and old, rich and poor as well as people from the margins of society (homeless, prostitutes, prisoners etc.) and towards non-Catholics. The members of the Legion are primarily engaged in the performance of the Spiritual Works of Mercy rather than works of material aid.
There's a Legion of Mary Hall in Douglas Village in Cork afaik. There was anyways last time I was outside the door of the Indian Restaurant across the street
There are a number of them around Cork alright, they visit hospitals and so on. Some of them are very good people. Some are plain odd. In relation to the two in the OP, they should have been told to obey the Biblical injunction 'Judge not lest ye be judged' or the casting the first stone story. And then been told to f*ck off.

the mormons are doing the rounds out my way. I have to say they are exceptionally mannerly and curteous.
