    Resign letter for DUP candidates

DUP assembly election candidates have received a contract asking them to sign a resignation letter, which could be triggered if they breach party policy.

The contract was described as "draconian" by one member.

The member told the BBC DUP assembly members could find themselves out of a job without even being consulted. BBC News

The DUP are getting crazier by the year, hopefully they all lose their jobs then we can all move on instead of being held back in the past by dr.no!

I Think Paisley knows he will have to accept powersharing now as he has no option, so this is his way of maintaining party disipline, when he does the deal.

Anyone else think we are looking at a split in the DUP between the realists who will share power and the (even more)fundamentalists who wont share power with SF for generations to come?

I think thats one of the reasons why Sinn Fein has done so much in an almost desperate attempt to get the assembly up and running.
Splitting up the largest unionist party would be a great achievement for republicans., and the DUP are very old fashioned and i couldnt see the party being united in giving republicans governing power of the north.
Hopefully the republican split over policing remains small and the DUP tear itself apart.

One of the spin off effects of politics being so polorised in NI is that neither side will do anything that will benefit the otherside, i.e. having a split. Its how there was 90% approval for policing in SF and its why the DUP probably wont split.

There mightnt be a major split, but if Sinn Fein gets 90% support for policing and the DUP only gets 80% support for sharing power , Sinn Fein could still knock a sizable lump off the DUP's support base, but i guess we'll see in the coming weeks.
