CIRA says no to Adams invitation

The Continuity IRA has rejected an invitation to talks from Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams.

The group has also denied involvement in any plot to kill senior members of the party. BBC News

Not surprising at all in this announcement.

Why is this in the "Northern Ireland" section? The IRA is a national body. Adams claims to lead a national party.

Personally I think the Army should "meet" Adams - and put him on trial for treason.

Well for practical reasons why would any member of a armed organisation want to meet with someone who potentially supports the police.
Like as been stated before he could have met them privately or whatever but that would deny him p.r.

I wasnt surprised that the group denied involvement in any plot to kill psf members as its made up by the psf leadership.

Surely Cael one is entitled to change ones mind? Adams was the elected leader of PSF. The membership overwhelmingly supported him. Would you recommend the same trial for all the other members? In a democratic organisation surely they're all equally guilty.

Seamus, such a meeting would of it's nature had to be secret, so it's hard to see how Adams could milk any PR advantage out of it.

Surely there is nothing potential about it, he has stated it his mind is made up, so no matter what way Sundays AF goes he will be a supporter of the PSNI.

If that is the case why announce any potential meeting to the media?

Surely that works both ways. My impression was that Adams said he'd meet any groups willing to meet without naming them. I'm presuming it was CIRA who said they didn't want to meet him. So who's using it to their advantage?

Come on WBS you know better than that. Why didn't adams announce his dealings with Hume, Reid, Mountainclimber prior to his meeting them?

No Adams specifically said he wanted to meet the "group styling itself CIRA". He then, after that insulting "invitation" out of the side of his mouth, went on to say that there is only one IRA, which is true, but he incredibly implied that that was the decomissioned ex PIRA.

As for your point about all PSF members being put on trial for treason, well, if blind stupidity was a crime Im sure they should be, but I think it would be enough to put the Neo-Sticky Misleadership on trial for treason, spying for the enemy, collaboration with the enemy, informing and incitement of others to become enemy informers.
