Yeah Chara, read about her. A very sad situation indeed, though I must say. Let's hope there's not more resignations as a weakened Movement cannot hope to achieve it's objectives!

How is this possible when a lot of psf members admit that the vote will more than likely be rigged.

I am sure that many Sinn Féin members and supporters will be sad to see Geraldine leave the party. However there are many people interested in being part of Sinn Féin as Sinn Féin moves forward. Geraldine will not be standing again as an MLA and a new Sinn Féin candidate will be selected to stand in her place.

Why not wait another two weeks until after the Ard Fheis? I mean, the result is predictable but another voice at the Ard Fheis against policing would have sent out a stronger message.

    Ahh well.

She had previously announced that she wouldn't be seeking re-selection as a candidate, so her resignation now is hardly unexpected.

To stay and fight any corner would have been futile, it is obvious the motion will be carried and that any debate can only take place in the context of the narrow parameters that PSF have negotiated and agreed with the Brits, staters, DUP and SDLP. The only debate is about whether the Shinners sould reject policing and with it the GFA, that debate will not have the support of the PSF leadership.

Had I been an MLA in Sinn Féin at this time it would have made more sense to actually speak at the Ard Fheis in opposition to policing than to resign two weeks beforehand.

Had you been an MLA you would have seen that this was not possible.
