More pussyfooting and deadlines for loyalist terrorists.

The decomissioning commissioners said they were given assurances from the mainstream UDA's five so-called "brigades" and the South East Antrim grouping that they would complete their decommissioning by the end of the IICD's mandate in February.

They also dismissed recent speculation that the UDA's Londonderry/North Antrim "brigade" was refusing to give up its arms and said its leaders had given a commitment they were still on board.

"In conclusion, we feel that substantial practical progress has been made on decommissioning loyalist paramilitary arms," they wrote.

    More..
BBC NEWS | UK | Northern Ireland | UDA 'to decommission by February'

The UDA have been assuring the decomissioning body that they are decomissioning their weapons for as long as I can remember.
We were told that tough action would be taken if they missed the last deadline, and the one before that and the one before that...

If these UDA gangs disarm then it would leave the loyalist terrorist threat at a complete minimum, as other organisations have disarmed.

Does anyone believe they will disarm, especially considering their political wing has withdrawn support for the police?
This splintered gangster organisation cannot be treated as an organisation.
The only way to disarm them is to take their weapons from them, and the PSNI have already stated that they would have no problems in locatin them.

Why is it that the majority of threads in this Northern Ireland section are either against Unionism/Loyalism/Orangeism? Why do we never see threads against Republican violence? Oh aye that is right because they are all saints?

I do not believe that the PIRA destroyed all their weapons and it will take more than a Methodist Minister and a Roman Catholic Priest to convince me otherwise.

This is a discussion, not a competition between the PIRA and UDA on who gets the most threads.
    This is TODAYS news.

Youre concerned about the PIRA decomissioning?

That was a long time ago.

Your post just highlights the fact that you miss the republican bashing, you want to believe the IRA are still armed so that you can ramble on.
There is a distinct pattern between people who want to believe the PIRA didnt decomission, and people who want the PIRA to exist in order to feed their selfish anti-nationalist sentiments.
Its people like this who miss the PIRA.
I will be glad to see all the guns gone, and when the Brtish government keep refusing to get tough on these thugs it should be highlighted - just as it was on the news.

If all you can say about loyalist terrorists holding onto deadly weapons is 'Whatabout the PIRA!?' then I wouldnt take up any jobs in the legal profession.
I dont think they deserve to be ignored or to go unpunished because some people dont want to discuss them.
I dont think that is any excuse for loyalists holding onto weapons, nor do I believe it ever has been.

There has been many threads on various different organisations, this organisation is in the spotlight more because theyre still armed.
You can hardly expect people to still be talking about the PIRA instead???

Either comment on the topic or go away.

This lot havent decomissioned, thats relevent in todays context.
    The PIRA are not.

You dont see threads on the PIRA here because youre more likely to find them in the history section, considering theyre history.
Is it that hard to understand?

I'd say that there are 10 times more threads on republican violence on politics ie.
Maybe youre just annoyed that someone posted something about loyalists?

If you cant find a thread related to republican violence then you need to learn how to read.
Heres some threads I picked up in about 10 seconds...

    PSNI flee from RIRA ro******************************************
SF - Ferris 'right' to meet McCabe killers
Mountbatten, O'Kennedy and the hierarchy of victims
Sean South: Why do people commemorate this lunatic?
IRA burn Protestant orphanages to the ground in GalwayThe Lost Revolution: A History of the OIRA and Workers Party
Dissidents motivated by vanity, says Adams

I should also point out that threads like this one generally get no attention, apart from the people who just seem to get annoyed that theyre being discussed atall ie. you.
Considering this its quite ironic that youre complaing against the thread.

So why is the thread on the Republican 600 pound bomb locked?

Mate why do you always feel the need to make personel attacks on me. You know nothing about me yet you are convinced in your warped mind that I am some sort of thug. God save as all another one who casts assumptions.

Its a duplicate thread thats why its locked.

Its not you, its the whole 'whatabout the IRA' gang.
Every thread seems to have the whataboutery gang trying to derail it.

Any chance people could discuss something that isnt to do with the IRA.
    I'm bored listening to it.

Lest any reminder of the importance of loyalist decommissioning be needed an inquest into the murder of Coleraine man John McCormick took place this week. On June 24 2001 Mr McCormick was shot 11 times in the head and chest by two gunmen who entered the living-room of the house that he shared with his partner Lynne and their two young children on the loyalist Ballysally estate. McCormick, a Catholic, was 25 years old. The UDA are suspected of carrying out his murder. To date no-one has been made amenable for the crime.

John McCormick had been due to give evidence at the trial of a UVF man who stood charged with attempted murder following an indiscrimate gun-attack on the Ballysally home of UDA 'political' spokesman Frankie Daly. Daly's 11 year old daughter was seriously wounded in the shooting, which was linked to a loyalist feud.

In an ironic twist Frankie Daly currently stands charged with the recent mob murder of Kevin McDaid.

The North Antrim & Derry UDA, under the command of self-styled 'brigadier' Billy 'The Mexican' McFarlane, are said to be strongly opposed to decommissioning. Until they are made to back down - and put behind bars if necessary - there will be no peace in the area.

Theyve been decomissioning now for 14 years.

    Theyve passed every deadline.

Its time to lock them up.

Seems like they have til February. By then a British General Election will be imminent. Let's hope the Tories are prepared to lock them up.
